Future Focus | Call For Submissions

PICHA is driven by visual content that showcases the contemporary side of Africa and people of the African diaspora. Each year we run a campaign focused around a particular theme to get our community of photographers all around the continent inspired and involved. This year, we’ve chosen to invite photographers to submit their images and interpretation of the “Afrofuturism” concept. By November 2018, we will select the best images to showcase in exhibitions across Africa.

SO, WHAT EXACTLY IS AFROFUTURISM?

A movement in literature, music, art, etc., featuring futuristic or science fiction themes which incorporate elements of black history and culture.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

We’re looking for creative interpretations of “Afrofuturism” for our #FutureFocus campaign. Work that visual-storytelling mojo well enough and you could be one of the featured photographers in our annual photographic exhibitions in Cape Town, Accra & Nairobi.
